Madeleine Tucker, cello
Madeleine Tucker most recently served as principal cellist with the Marin Symphony. Passionate about both math and music, she earned a degree in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University and a Master of Music in Cello Performance at The Juilliard School. While still in school, she founded a cello ensemble called String Theory, that performed all over the country in a variety of genres, including classical, pop, jazz, electronic and more.
Sarah Rumbley, piano
Sarah Rumbley is a Boston-based pianist, photographer, and software engineer. She has appeared as soloist with the Boston Pops, MIT Symphony Orchestra, and local orchestras near her hometown of Boulder, Colorado. She studied piano with David Deveau in the Emerson Music Fellowship at MIT, where she earned degrees in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. She remains involved with music at MIT as a staff accompanist, and works on computational photography and computer vision research at Google, where she volunteers as a video editor for the Googler Virtual Orchestra.
Arjun Mudan, viola
Arjun Mudan is a Boston-based violist/violinist, with a particular interest in the new and the unusual. He has performed with numerous Eastern MA ensembles, including the Boston New Music Initiative, Boston Philharmonic, Cape Ann Symphony, and Plymouth Philharmonic. He was involved in the US and Swiss premiers of major works by Helmut Lachenmann and Friedrich Cerha, and has worked with conductors such as Matthias Pintscher, Jeffrey Milarsky, Heinz Holliger, and JoAnn Falletta. His festival credits include Spoleto, Round Top, and Lucerne. Arjun has a bachelor's degree from Columbia University, and influential teachers include Michelle LaCourse, Jessica Meyer, Cyrus Beroukhim, and Dimitri Murrath.
Jess Lin, violin
Violinist Jess Lin is the founder of Fireside Ensemble and a passionate performer and supporter of live chamber music. She is a writer, software engineer, and musician. She has performed in venues ranging from Bostonʼs Jordan Hall with the Boston Philharmonic, to the castle of Vianden, Luxembourg as part of the Vianden Festival. Her favorite venues, however, are cafes and homes. She earned a B.S. in Computer Science from MIT, where she studied violin under the Emerson Music Scholarship. Off stage, she volunteers her tech and business skills for music. She has launched the web presence for artists including cellist Jonah Kim, chamber music group Ensemble San Francisco, the Music in May chamber music festival, and the Duluth Chamber Music Festival. She lives in Medford, MA.
